We are looking for an Environment Health & Safety Manager
Main Responsibilities:
Support Cluster Management in achieving EHS performance
- Developing, strategizing and implementing a long-term plan for the EHS function in cluster according to Region EHS strategy.
- Ensure that Accidents/Incidents are first prevented, and when occurring, reported, recorded, investigated and analysed. Support local Sites to establish Return on Experience (REX) reports in case of severe or potentially severe accidents. Ensure all potentially severe events are captured and investigated. Responsible for the quality of accidents/incidents analysis and REX reports in the Cluster & communication of those REX reports.
- Has full authority and must stop any operational activity resulting in an immediate high risk to People or the Environment.
Lead the EHS network in the Cluster
- Support EHS staffing of new projects in its Cluster.
- Conduct induction programs for new EHS people in the Cluster.
- Monitor, assist, coach, assess, and develop the EHS communities in the Cluster.
- Provides technical support and guidance to site team.
Support tendering process in the Cluster for EHS related topics
- Provide support to the Site, Projects or Country Director for EHS questions at tender phase for all tenders driven from the Cluster in coordination with Region EHS Director & ensure strong EHS plans are established.
- Support project execution process end-to-end for all projects/sites operated in its Cluster and deploy EHS standards.
Develop EHS Management system and EHS Standardization
- Ensure that in all entities in the Cluster, EHS Management System in line with Alstom EHS processes, local legal requirements and international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) are implemented and maintained.
- Ensure the standardization and consistency of EHS processes across the Cluster.
- Localize Alstom documentation/learning program when relevant.
Compliance
- Ensure legal watch is organized at country level.
- Monitor compliance to all relevant country statutory, regulatory, contractual and company requirements.
Develop EHS culture in the Cluster
- Connect Alstom and Region EHS objectives and programs with Cluster system and process and mobilize Cluster Management.
- Develop EHS understanding and competencies of key operational employees. Deploy learning and development programs.
- Build communication plan about EHS.
- Ensure social and medical partners are involved and communicate with them about EHS. Support site teams when needed.
Report, Measure & Review
- Be recognized as an Alstom auditor and contributes to the delivery of the Group audit program (ex-AZDP).
- Visit regularly manufacturing sites, project sites and offices to identify EHS risks and issues.
- Monitor and analyse EHS performance, ensure standard reporting is delivered & accurate, and deliver EHS Management reports.
- Responsible for the quality of the EHS reporting process in the Cluster.
Performance measurements:
- Injury Frequency Rate (IFR) 1 & IFR 2
- Fatality / severe accidents
- Safety Observation Visit (SOV) number or other leading indicators
- Health and wellbeing (Occupational diseases, ergonomic)
- Environment (Energy, water, waste, Transport Operational Performance in Environment, Volatile Organic Compound)
Educational Requirements:
Mandatory:
- University Engineer or Business Degree
- Recognized Health and Safety Qualification to Diploma or Degree level
- Environmental Qualification to Diploma or Degree level
- EHS auditor
Desirable:
- Degree level Environmental Qualification to Diploma or Degree level
- Six Sigma training and or certifications Green or Black Belt.
Experience
Mandatory:
- Significant experience (7-10 years) in EHS function in an industrial environment and / or construction environment in the Cluster
- Experience in leading a network of people reporting in dotted line
- Good knowledge and understanding of ISO14001, ISO 45001 certifications
- Good knowledge of EHS regulations applicable within at least one country of the Cluster
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Railway is a plus
- Ideally has also operational experience outside EHS
- Good knowledge and understanding of LEED certifications

The minimum salary for this position is € 4500 gross / month (14 x) for full-time employment according to the collective bargaining agreement. Overpayment depends on relevant work experience and qualifications.
