Senior Research Analyst (Energy Models)
has a vacancy based in Vienna, Austria, for
in the Energy Studies Department
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for defining the most suitable input data and regularly updating related databases, including setting up relevant sets of parameters for running scenarios with OWEM and other models.
- Responsible for modifying and updating the OWEM and other models features (including the model code); estimating and re-specifying the equations of the model to increase its computational efficiency and accuracy.
- Studies and keeps abreast of other energy model efforts developed outside the Secretariat, so as to keep OPEC methodologies continually under review.
- Conducts or contributes to research efforts and studies based on a modelling approach, including, but not limited to, OPEC’s World Oil Outlook.
- Contributes to speeches, articles and presentations to internal meetings and international forums.
- Carries out any other tasks assigned by the relevant superiors as pertain to his/her background, qualifications and position.
Requirements and Work Experience
- University degree in Computational Modeling, Mathematics/Statistics, (Energy) Economics or other relevant fields
- Advanced degree preferred
- University degree: 8 years of work experience
- Advanced degree: 6 years of work experience
Skills and Knowledge
- Energy modeling
- Advanced knowledge and experience in MS Excel and programming languages
(Python is mandatory, R is complementary) - Knowledge of various phases of energy markets and related operations, including, but not limited to, upstream, mid-stream, downstream, and energy-related environmental issues
- Knowledge of latest developments in the energy sector
- Communication and analytical skills
- Presentation and interpersonal skills
- Customer service orientation
- Initiative and integrity
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
Offer
Monthly basic salary of (€6,889 x 12 per year), with tax-free benefits and six-week annual leave.
